The Life Of Jesus...
Presented by Rev. Katie Seltzer
January 2, 2011
When baby Jesus was born our Father in Heaven had a clear vision of what HIS life would be like. HE would be loved and cared for by his mother Mary and earthly father Joseph. Mary cradled HIM in her arms gently and kissed HIS little face. She sang him lullabies at night and helped HIM with HIS prayers. Her love for HIM knew no boundaries. She watched him play with other children and dried his tears when HE would fall and scrape HIS knees. more...

Welcome Home
Presented by Rev. Katie Seltzer
October 3, 2010
I remember hearing years ago a story that I would like to share with you today. It went something like this….. A woman named Martha loved Jesus with all her heart prayed & asked Him to come and visit her. An angel appeared before her and told her that Jesus would be coming to visit her in two days.
She was so happy. To prepare for his visit she scrubbed her house from top to bottom. She swept off the front stoop at her door and went inside to plan what she would serve Jesus.
She got up early the next morning, put on her warm coat & went to the market. She bought meat & bread to make him sandwiches and fresh vegetables to make him a hot soup as the weather had turned very cold outside. On her way home she an old woman shivering from the cold.
She stopped and asked the old woman if she was alright and the woman told her she was very cold but she was alright. She lived in the next town and was walking home….Martha thought to herself that the dear woman would freeze to death before she got to her home, so Martha took off her coat and put it on the woman. The woman thanked her and went on her way.
Martha continued down the street thinking about all the things she wanted to talk to Jesus about. It would be a fine visit. She had spent all her money to prepare a fine meal for Him. As she was getting close to home, she saw a man and woman huddling together to stay warm. Martha stopped and asked the couple if they were alright. The man bowed his head and quietly said. My wife and I have not eaten in three days. We are weak from hunger. Can you help us?
Martha felt very bad for the couple, but if she gave them the food she had just bought what would she feed Jesus? What should she do? She needed the food to prepare for Jesus visit…..But she could not let these people starve to death…..She handed the man her bag of groceries and said a little prayer for them. She wished them well and went on her way home. Arriving home, she made a fire in the fireplace and made some hot tea.
Soon there was a knock on her door. Oh my goodness she thought, Jesus is here…..He is really here. She could feel her heart beating fast with in her chest! With great anticipation she opened the door there before her was a small child. The little girl was crying and was scared. Martha knelt down and wiped the tears from the little girls face. What is the matter Martha asked the little girl…..the little girl said, my name is Mary and I am lost. I can’t remember how to get home.
Don’t cry Martha said. It will be alright. Come inside and get warm. So Martha took Mary inside to warm her up and talk with her. She gave her some hot tea and warm biscuits. She was saving that for Jesus, but she could not let the little girl be cold or hungry. Martha thought as she looked at the child that she could not be more than 5 or 6 years old…..Why was she out alone? She could help the child to find her way home but then she would miss being there when Jesus came to visit……With all her heart she wanted to see Jesus and visit with Him but this child needed her. She must get this little child home to her mother as soon as possible. So Martha put the child’s coat back on her and headed out to find the child’s home.
Mary’s mother was so happy that she was home safe and sound. She thanked Martha and hugged her. Martha said good-by and started making her way home….Oh dear, she thought, it is late and I must really hurry home. I have nothing to serve to Jesus and I hope the fire is still burning in the fireplace. Arriving home, Martha found the house was dark and cold. The fire had gone out of the fireplace.
I have missed my visit with Jesus she said to herself. I am a poor hostess as I have nothing to serve Him and my house is cold……
Suddenly there was a quiet knock at the door. She opened the door and there before her stood Jesus. Please come in and have a seat she said. Jesus sat down and looked at her lovingly. ….I am so sorry Jesus that I have nothing to serve you and my house is cold. Please forgive me…..I tried to prepare for your visit but so many things happened today.
It is alright my child he said….I have had three wonderful visits with you today. I was the old woman who you lovingly gave your warm coat too so that I would not freeze. I was also the man in the street to whom you gave all your food because we had not eaten in three days.
Lastly, I was the lost child to whom you gave hot tea and your last warm biscuits. Then you went out into the cold with no coat and helped me find my way home. You gave from your heart unselfishly to me three times. You gave all you had to give with love.
So you see, I have truly had a wonderful visit with you today. And with that, Jesus rose from his seat, thanked Martha and left.
How many times can you recall having done something for someone or something without thinking What is in this for me? It is when we give from our hearts that we truly serve Jesus and show our love for Him…..Jesus wants us to do for others out of our love and caring for him and our fellow man.
The deeds we do out of love should not be considered a burden or sacrifice. We should help others to reach out to Jesus and help them grow so that they can achieve their lives plan and goals that they made with God before they came to earth. Putting our selfish wants and needs first does not bring us closer to Jesus. We are here to learn our lives lessons and glorify the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Each day, there are angels all around us. They watch us, help us and encourage us to help others. Everything we do, say and think is recorded in heaven….It is up to each of us to reach out to those around us and try to do what Jesus wants us to do…..If we listen closer to what our hearts and the Holy Spirit Says to us we will fulfill our earthly missions.
Thank you…..

The Topic: Crisis
Subject Matter: What do we do when we are in a crisis?
presented by Robin Ghent
In today’s world the word crisis is becoming a common event. No one is exempt this event. It is almost as sure as death.
There is a solution to both of these topics. When I mean solution I do not mean a way to avoid these matters but we can make the right choices to address the matters before they happen.
We prepare to work by getting an education, we prepare for a relationship by working on ourselves. Even when we decide to have children we prepare to the great arrival of that bundle of joy.
These are the good things in life that we plan to enjoy but there is always the other side the misfortunes. We do not want to think or prepare for them. In my research I went to the Bible to see how the people in the Bible handled Crisis.
One name comes to mind when I think of Crisis- Job:
ref: Job 2:9-10
This verse his wife gives her opinion of what he should do. We just like Job ask our family and friends what should be done. In doing this we must be very careful of consulting others.
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity?" Curse God and Die"
There is a question of integrity- She was looking at what the outside people were thinking concerning his situation.
Job responds: But he said unto her, " Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh: What ? shall we receive good at the hand of God and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips?
We always want to get the good from God and never think he will also give what we consider the evil.
Before the crisis there are signs; Luke 21-25-28.
And there shall be signs ,in the sun, and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring:
We must be aware of our surroundings, first self, then home, family, friends, self is the hardest to review. We never want to make sure that we have completely healed before we move on to the next relationship. Sometimes things are moving so fast that we must heal as we go along. This is when we become a torn, broken and incomplete person.
That is when your faith must go into action. We see with the natural eye but the spiritual eye and the gut feelings tell us something else is going to happen;
Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good , a strong hold in the day of trouble: and he knoweth them that trust him.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your request be made known unto God.
And the peace of God ,which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus.
In the text we must understand that we are made in the image of God and that we are able to do the things that needs to be done to fulfill our purpose.
II Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind.
Psalm 91:10-11
There shall no evil befall thee neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling, For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways
Sometimes we get confused because we listen to the wrong people. There is a solution:
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him
During our stressful moments and our crisis there are completeness in the word of God.
In my conclusion this scripture will be of comfort, Beloved
1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trials which is to try you as though some strange thing happened unto you.
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings that ,when his glory shall be revealed ye may be glad also with exceeding joy
May God Bless this word to encourage the souls of the people and refresh their minds to continue with the purpose that is set before them.

Tolerance
given by Mary Thrall
June 13, 2010
Tolerance is the appreciation of diversity and the ability to live and let others live. It is the ability to exercise a fair and objective attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, religion, nationality and so on differ from one’s own. According to William Ury, “Tolerance is not just agreeing with one another or remaining indifferent in the face of injustice, but rather showing respect for the essential humanity in every person.”
In Don Miguel Ruiz’s book The Four Agreements, he gives us a blueprint in living such a life. His agreements are as follows: be impeccable with your speech, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best.
In a channeled article by Patricia Cota Robles entitled “Healing the Polarization,” she states, “Instead of polarizing against everything we disagree with, we need to create a new reality, a reality that reflects our Oneness and makes the concept of separation obsolete….We can invoke the Light of God into [any] situation and transmute it by using the Violet Flame. Then we can envision what we want to create in its place….Wherever we focus our thoughts, words, actions, and feeling on, we bring into form. We need to create the vision of what we want life on Earth to be like, and then we need to set about creating that new reality….To insure the transformation of inner conditions for Humanity and the Earth, let’s join together and create a force field of Transfiguring Divine Love. Centered within unity consciousness, our collective spiritual ability will empower each of us to accomplish this Divine Plan.

Why are we Here?
Rev. John Sansone
May 2, 2010
A persistent question that I’ve heard from people all across the country is “Why are we here?” We have all heard spiritual teachers say that we are here to learn lessons, and that is true. But more than that, part of our mission in life is to continue our spiritual evolvement toward higher, divine consciousness. How can we accomplish that? Many have said that “Love is the answer”. And love is the answer. The Master Jesus condensed the ten commandments of the Old Testament into two commandments. The first is “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.” Now this first commandment of Jesus is a direct reference to the first commandment in the Old Testament: “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of bondage. Thou shalt not have any other gods before me…” (Exodus 20:2) So the point that Jesus was making is that the Lord thy God is the I am. In other words, first and foremost, we must love our self. “And the second is like it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Here we must ask ourselves the question “Who is our neighbor?” Our neighbor is not just the person next door or across the street, or even someone in the same city. No, our neighbor is every person in the universe, past, present, and future, including those that we have judged as evil.
We have the privilege of living in a time of great change, when everything is changing before our eyes. This is also a time when there are wars and injustices all around the globe. As each of us focuses on loving oneself and everyone else as ourselves, then we will exert a positive influence on each other and our environment and Mother earth. The Mayan elders have indicated that we are evolving into a new human species - homo luminous or light being. This new human is expected to emerge around the time of the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 or so. Many of us are in the process of creating a light body, which is a much expanded aura extending well beyond inches, feet, or miles. We have entered into a new era of light, but are still transitioning from the previous era. As we continue in our evolvement to higher consciousness, and start treating each other as we would like to be treated, then the wars and injustices will fall away. As we send light and love to everyone on the planet and in the universe, then a new era of love, light, joy, and peace will be established. Then all that is troubling us at this time will disappear.

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread
by Rev. John Sansone
March 7, 2010
The master Yeshua was both a great teacher and a great student. He had studied the Jewish scriptures well and often referred to them (directly or indirectly) when questioned or when presenting something to his disciples. When he gave the disciples the “Our Father” and said “Give us this day our daily bread”, he implied several interpretations. First, I believe he was referring to the 40-year journey of the Israelites from Egypt across the desert to Canaan (Exodus). Manna was their daily food from heaven.
In the description in the Book of Exodus, manna is described as being available six mornings a week, after the dew had evaporated. It is described in the Book of Numbers as arriving with the dew during the night. Exodus adds that manna was comparable to hoarfrost in size, similarly had to be collected before it was melted by the heat of the sun, and was white like coriander seed in color. Numbers describes it as having the appearance of bdellium (an aromatic gum like myrrh), adding that the Israelites ground it up and pounded it into cakes, which were then baked, resulting in something that tasted like cakes baked with oil. Exodus states that raw manna tasted like wafers that had been made with honey, The Israelites were instructed to eat only the manna they had gathered for each day. Leftovers or manna stored up for the following day "bred worms and stank": the exception being the day before Shabbat (Preparation Day), when twice the amount of manna was gathered, and which did not spoil overnight.

Our Valentine's Day service was entitled:
Drawing Lasting Love to You & Keeping It For A Lifetime.
~ Rev. Katie Seltzer
Rev. Katie talked about the importance of really knowing ourselves before we start a new relationship. What are our strengths and weaknesses and how do they affect our decision making? It is important that we love ourselves and want what is best for ourselves. Many times individuals will look at the physical attributes of a person and not the inner being. Just because the package is cute or handsome on the outside does not mean the present inside is honest, trustworthy, caring, and ready for a relationship that will last a lifetime. An individual's inner beauty is what really counts. Sometimes a present wrapped in plain paper contains the most treasured gifts.
Any relationship has to go through a growing process if it is to survive. The growing process is not always easy, but it can help a relationship grow stronger. Taking the time to talk and discuss individual goals can then lead to discussing and making joint goals, that can be strived for and reached together in love. All relationships go through a certain amount of sacrifice. The important thing is that a sacrifice be made with love, not bitterness, resentment or disappointment.
Marriages that last a lifetime go through many ups & downs and grow stronger as the years go by. It is important to remember that no one is perfect. To" love" is a decision and a commitment we make individually and together if it is to last. Love is one of the greatest gifts that God gives to us. Cherish your love and honor it. You will look back over your life and be proud of your decisions and choices.

"BLUE ZONES" AND THE 23RD PSALM ...
~
Rev. Anne Victoria Hilliard
Several scientists have been studying what they call "blue zones"
around the
world. Places where people invariably live longer, healthier lives. Many
live into their 90s, with far less incidence of cancer, and no dementia?
Consistently they exhibit a few simple habits: long walks, healthy
eating
(fresh greens!), afternoon naps, low sense of time urgency, and a strong
sense of community.
In the 23rd Psalm, we are told that The Lord makes us to lie down in
green
pastures, he leadeth us beside the still waters, he restoreth our soul.
Life
is meant to include these things. Spend time in your yard or at a park.
Take
the time to deliberately incorporate rest and relaxation into your day,
not
just your night. In short, taking the time to be whole (holy) brings us
better health and greater happiness.

Jesus Christ, Super Starseed? Presented by Rev. John J. Sansone
Please note: The information presented in this talk does not necessarily reflect the views of The Spiritual Lighthouse, Jacksonville, FL or any of its members, but represents personal opinions, wonderings, musings, and contemplations of the presenter of particular biblical passages and other information. |
What started the wonderings and musings was something my sixth-grade teacher, a nun, said to me. She said something to the effect that Superman was a metaphor for Jesus and that the Church did not look kindly upon the story of Superman. I looked at her strangely and could not comprehend what she was saying. Nonetheless, her words stuck with me. Then after my spiritual awakening in 1979 at the age of 40, I began to read everything with new eyes, including the bible. The questions that are posed in this presentation are left to the listeners and readers to contemplate and answer in private. click here for more...

LESSONS FROM THE CHRIST... via Rev. Anne Victoria Hilliard
Blessed are those who are Poor in Spirit….
This is not just those who have suffered a great calamity, or who are otherwise depressed or needy. The worse the condition of the spirit the more prone we are to undesirable behaviors. When we fail to feel love, joy, peace we are poor in Spirit. If we are: Yelling, Crying, Angry, or feeling Fearful we are poor in Spirit.
The Prodigal Son…
1. The Father celebrated his son with ALL that he had upon his return.
2. He restored to his Son ALL that he had lost.
3. The Son was more valuable than all the Father had to give.
This story is not just about “proper human” behavior, but a wonderful description of what we can expect from Our Father… God. click here for more...

God Has A Plan for us All
~ Katie Kawabe
Katie Kawabe, gave her first sermon at church this past Sunday (Nov 15). The title of her sermon was, "God Has A Plan For Us All." She spoke about the importance of trusting your intuition and also your gut feeling. God is always there for us. We just need to listen quietly to hear His voice and His loving message. Being human we make mistakes, but God will forgive us if we ask and then we can get back on track with the plan that we made with God.

Message for Mankind... Rev. John J. Sansone
From Rev. John Sansone... Carlos Barrios was born into a Spanish family on El Altiplano, the highlands of Guatemala. His home was in Huehuetenango, also the dwelling place of the Maya, Mam tribe. With other Maya and other indigenous tradition keepers, the Mam carry part of the 'old ways on Turtle Island (North America). They are keepers of time, authorities on remarkable calendars that are ancient, elegant and relevant.
Devised ages ago and based on the cycle of the Pleiades, the Mayan calendar is still held as sacred. With the indigenous calendars, native people have kept track of important turning points in history. For example, the day keepers who study the calendars identified an important day in the year One Reed, That was the day when an important ancestor was prophesied to return. In the Western Calendar, the One Reed date correlates to Easter Sunday, April 21,1519 the day that Hernando Cortez and his fleet of 11 Spanish galleons arrived from the East at what is today called Vera Cruz, Mexico. What began with the arrival of Cortez, lasted until August 16, 1987 - a date many people recall as Harmonic Convergence. Click for more...

On Sunday, September 27th, we enjoyed the sermon given by Rev. Richard Russell of Cassadaga, Florida. Rev. Russell came in honor of our month long 67th Church Anniversary. His sermon was entitled, "The Christ Consciousness." Listed below is an exert from the sermon he gave.
"God or Universal Intelligence is the guiding principle behind everything that exists today. Hell or the devil has no abiding place except in man's mortal thought. Both of them are right where man places them. Can either be placed in any geographical position on earth? If heaven is all and surrounds all, where could hell or the devil be placed ethereally? If God rules all and is ALL, where could either be placed in God's perfect plan?"

Rev. James Stafford's sermon was on Angels. He discussed the different types of angels and the role they play in God's realm. There are several different types of angels, all with certain duties that are deemed by God. Angels have never lived a lifetime in human form. Our guardian Angels watch over us lovingly, but do not interfere with the decisions we make in life. God has given us free will. We are free to do good or bad and face the repercussions of our actions. God our Father loves us enough let us learn from our mistakes and ask for forgiveness when we need it. Everyone enjoyed James' sermon and his presence within the church. We would like to thank him for taking the time to help us celebrate our 67th anniversary of the church and look forward to his return.

Thoughts from our September Communion Service...Rev. John Sansone
Our Communion Service was touching and humbling. Rev. John Sansone gave the sermon entitled "Why We Say Grace Before We Eat." Rev. John spoke before we took Communion. He said, "That as children we are taught to say grace before we eat as a remembrance of Jesus and his last meal with his disciples." He also explained the importance of the bread and the wine so that we fully understood what Jesus did.
Rev. John smiled and said:
"We live and move and have our being in a universe of energy. Everything is energy, including the very dense forms of solid objects like chairs and even the subtle energy of thoughts. The energy of the universe has intelligence and can be directed via the use of our mental powers, as is used in spiritual
healing. When Jesus blessed the bread and wine at the last Supper what he was doing was directing his personal energy into the bread and wine, thus changing the essence of the food so it could be more easily digested by the physical body. He also invited the disciples to do likewise as a remembrance of his teachings.
We also enjoyed Rev. Johns singing "Ode To Joy" by Beethoven. He has a baritone voice which really did the song justice. Beethoven would have been proud of Rev. John's singing and the beautiful way Mary Thrall played the piano. We are so proud to have Mary and her magic fingers play the piano for the church each Sunday. ~Rev. Katie Seltzer

Healing is not just the release from physical pain, but also a release from emotional pain, and mental stresses. Such as:
- Learning to let go, and let God in even the smallest problems of our lives is key to our good health.
- Understanding that each of us is important. It's nice to give to others, but it is vital to also give to ourselves. For the well-being of our internal condition is key to how we act.
- The "Secret" is merely a revamp of Matthew 7:7:7. Ask and you SHALLl receive. Start small and work your way big! The more faith you build in the truth of God's abundance, the more abundant your life will be.
God Bless You - Rev. Vicky
